About this app

The Journal is an experimental new product from Inner Drive Technology that allows users to compile data from multiple sources into a single, cohesive view, with serious security and privacy features to keep the data safe.

We built the app to appeal to many different kinds of users:

  • Journalists who need to organize timelines and keep notes they don't want to (or can't) share
  • Lawyers with complex cases involving multiple actors over time
  • Athletes with long training histories from devices that don't talk to each other
  • Historians (or just people compiling their family histories) who want to see how events and data relate to each other

We've developed a privacy model that allows users to control who has access to their data, which we'll elaborate on as development goes on. Some highlights include:

  • An iron-clad commitment never to share your data with anyone (except a court under a valid order—but see below)
  • All data encrypted at-rest, with multiple options up to encrypting individual items with a one-time key that only you know (so we can't disclose it even if ordered to)
  • Fine-grained authorization levels from public (anyone on and off the app can view) to locked (only you can view, with a manually-entered password)

We're still in the early stages of development. Check back soon to find out how to get a beta test account. And if you find this app useful, contribute to us on Patreon!
