I enjoy productive days
CassieChicagoClimate changeEntertainmentFoodHistoryPersonalPsychologySummerTravelUrban planningWeatherWisconsinWorkYesterday I squashed six bugs (one of them incidentally to another) and today I've had a couple of good strategy meetings. But things seem to have picked up a bit, now that our customers and potential customers have returned to their offices as well.
So I haven't had time to read all of these (a consistent theme on this blog):
- An early-summer heat dome has formed over a larger area than expected, pushing temperatures in the Southwest US as high as 53°C in places.
- Lenore Skenazy, who founded the non-profit Let Grow after being shamed for letting her 4th-grader ride the subway alone, sees her work towards more-independent children paying off.
- Chicago Magazine has three cheers for Chicago's street grid, which gives us the lowest street entropy of any city in the world.
- Writing in the Atlantic, Joe Pinsker argues for a 4-day work week. You know, like they have in Europe.
- Cassie and I plan—let me rephrase that—I plan to take Cassie to meet family in Wisconsin tomorrow, but maybe Sunday I'll head the other direction to enjoy the last of the Brood X cicadas.
And finally, providing some almost-pure Daily Parker bait, the Post has a helpful breakdown of 8 common styles of hot sauce.
