Miscellany before traveling

Once again, Cassie and I got up obscenely early (5:30 am), but that allowed us to take a very long walk around the lake side of Belmont Harbor without needing sunscreen. It was 27°C with a 30°C heat index, however, but it was still pretty:

At the southern end of the peninsulette bordering the north side of the harbor (too precise?), there's an amazing view of the skyline and Navy Pier:

Cassie didn't care about either of those things, but she did enjoy the 55-minute walk and all the new smells:

I'm now applying updates to my travel laptop and drying my second load of laundry. Pre-travel days are always exciting. I'll hold off putting Cassie's food into bags until the last minute, though.

Great pictures! This is why I love walking around sunrise. The light is just fantastic. The quiet and calm are also wonderful, although this morning's 6km ramble around neighbouring villages featured the distant barking of muntjac deer, who clearly had strong opinions about something. Safe travels to London. The coming week's weather is a typical September mix of dry days and rainy days, so bring an umbrella. Temperatures should be in the low 20s.
